La máxima expresión del vino.
Una historia de una generación de amor por el viñedo y de constante búsqueda por encontrar la máxima expresión del vino. En Sumarroca condensan la esencia vitivinícola de la zona más emblemática del Penedés con la elaboración de cavas y vinos, la voluntad innovadora de un gran equipo de profesionales y con una filosofía donde se exprese frescura, elegancia y suavidad. Todo ello a través del cultivo ecológico de las más de 400 hectáreas propias. En Sumarroca combinan tradición, sentimiento y conocimiento para innovar sin perder la personalidad y estilo propio de la bodega.
Trayectoria.
En 1999 compran la finca más emblemática de Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, que pasó a denominarse Finca Sumarroca.
Así, los pilares sobre los cuales han consolidado la trayectoria de la familia Sumarroca y diseñado sus vinos y cavas en sinónimo de brindis inolvidables, ha sido la pasión por la tierra, el espíritu de trabajo y la innovación permanente, profundizando en variedades autóctonas e introduciendo foráneas, e implementando nuevos sistemas y procesos de elaboración. La bodega está situada en la finca Molí Coloma, en pleno corazón del Penedés, entre Barcelona y Tarragona, junto al cauce del río Anoia. Los viñedos están repartidos en tres fincas: Molí Coloma, Heretat Sabartés y la finca Sumarroca. En total son 464,8 ha, que permiten autoabastecerse al cien por cien de las uvas que necesita nuestra bodega para la elaboración de vinos y cavas. De esta manera, se controla todas y cada una de las etapas del proceso de elaboración a través de una trazabilidad total que arranca en la viña y acaba en la botella. En paralelo, el fomento de la biodiversidad es una constante en la gestión medioambiental de Sumarroca, practicando una viticultura responsable y ecológica, gracias a un equipo de cuatro enólogos y a una dirección técnico-agraria de las fincas.
Paisaje y cultivos.
El paisaje vitícola de Sumarroca se caracteriza por un relieve suave y ondulado. Son suelos pobres en materia orgánica, nutrientes y sales minerales, muy apropiados para el cultivo de la vid. La composicíon del suelo es arcillo-calcáreo del tipo Calcixerollic Xerichrept, con elevada proporción de caliza. La abundancia de cantos rodados, restos de aluvión y grava, proporciona un drenaje y una retención hídrica óptima. El subsuelo encontramos roca agrietada que facilita a las raíces de la vid la búsqueda de aportes complementarios, favoreciendo el equilibrio de los diversos componentes del fruto. Sumarroca dispone de modernas instalaciones de elaboración y buenas cavas de crianza. Hace algunos años, cuando se elaboraban sólo variedades tradicionales, se inició en Molí Coloma la elaboración de vinos monovarietales. Sus blancos de chardonnay, riesling y muscat ofrecen una interesante gama varietal.
