La historia de Pascona.
Hacia el año 1200, una parte de las tierras del Priorat pertenecían a la Cartuja del Escaladei gestionadas por sus monjes y otra parte a la nobleza, concretamente en la Baronía de Entenza, quien dominaba las tierras de donde ahora nacen los vinos de la Bodega Pascona. El 1827 nació en Pedro Pascó y Pi, médico de Falset que compró las tierras a la partida Fontanals. Estas pasaron a su hija Victoria Pascó y luego a sus dos nietas, la Mari Paz Gombau Pascó y la Guadalupe Gombau Pascó, conocidas como las Pascona. Vino la Guerra Civil y las Pascona perdieron a sus prometidos en el frente y quedaron solteras con una edad avanzada y sin descendencia, en la que las dos hermanas se cuidaran la una de la otra. Al pasar los años, en edad adulta y sin descendencia, finca de los Fontanals, conocida ya como la Finca de las Pascona recibieron un regalo del cielo: Una niña de 7 años, Assumpta Rull, su madre, pariente de las Pascona, había enfermado y no podía criar a la niña, por eso les pidió el favor de cuidar su niña. Pasó toda la infancia junto a las Pascona. Cuando fallecieron, le dejaron todos sus bienes como herencia. Cuando Assumpta se hizo grande, se casó con en Antoni Ripoll Bartolomé, con el que comenzó el proyecto en 1991 hasta que en 2006 su hijo, en Toni Ripoll cogió las riendas y rebautizó el proyecto, haciendo un homenaje y como muestra de gratitud, nace PASCONA.
El vinatero y marido.
El vinatero Toni Ripoll, gerente de la Bodega Pascona, crecido entre platos, viñas, olivos y campos de frutales, se formó en electrónica, siendo uno de los mejores de la promoción mientras echaba una mano en el negocio familiar, un restaurante en Mora la Nova. Un buen día abrió los ojos y mirando a su entorno decidió aprovechar este gran patrimonio venido de generaciones pasadas: Así se adentró en el maravilloso mundo del vino, estudiando, viajando para conocer otras zonas y nuevas tendencias y aplicando su espíritu innovador en el proyecto Pascona. Actualmente nacen cuatro vinos de la Finca, de las seis posibilidades que Toni decidió conjuntamente con la finca. Estos cuatro son la personificación en forma de vino de algunos de los miembros de la familia, rindiendo así un homenaje. La Bodega Pascona está situado en el Valle de los Fontanals, cercano a la población de Falset, tierra histórica de vinos, y trabajamos con vocación innovadora y experimental las variedades autóctonas Garnacha, Cariñena además del Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon y Merlot, elaborando un producto de calidad a un coste contenido . Formamos parte de la Denominación de origen Montsant.
La finca y la bodega.
Está situada dentro de una falla, donde en distancias muy pequeñas, conviven situaciones de lo más peculiares: Arcilla, granito y pizarra comparten espacio enriqueciendo la calidad de la Finca. Además con las diferentes alturas y orientaciones que nos proporciona la finca, conseguimos una gran heterogeneidad. Nuestro uva conserva toda la tipicidad varietal que puede adquirir los diferentes mesoclima, exposiciones, alturas de formación, etc. Estamos en orientación Este, obteniendo los máximos beneficios que nos proporciona la naturaleza, aprovechando al máximo el sol de tarde y en periodos más calurosos, el propio refrigerio de la viña con la brisa marina procedente del Mediterráneo.
-La bodega está construida a pie de viña, es muy importante para nosotros que, en tiempo de vendimia, el transporte de la uva hasta la bodega sea el mínimo posible , en el peor de los casos, minutos. De esta manera nos aseguramos que el Uva no se degrada, no se oxida, manteniendo toda su pureza, consiguiendo así vinos de máxima calidad. Rodeado de las herramientas que antiguamente eran imprescindibles para el trabajo en el campo, se encuentra nuestra bodega, donde en un mismo espacio, conviven elaboración, crianza, etiquetado y almacenamiento. Tanto la Finca como la Bodega han pasado a lo largo de los años de generación en generación. Fruto de la tradición vitícola de la Familia que a través de una selección cuidadosa grano a grano de cada variedad y de las nuevas tecnologías enológicas, hacen que Pascona sea un vino especial, cívico y diverso , y es en el vino donde se manifiesta la tipicidad del Valle.
