Orígenes y fundación.

Bodegas Lustau fue fundada en 1896 por Don José Ruiz-Berdejo. Fue un modesto comienzo: Don José, secretario judicial, cultivaba las viñas en su finca Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza. En la propia casa de la viña criaba los vinos que después vendía a las grandes bodegas exportadoras. Era un almacenista. En 1931 su hija, María Ruiz-Berdejo Alberti, adquirió una bodega en el Callejón de Asta, trasladando a Jerez la crianza de sus vinos.

Historia.

En los años 40, Don Emilio Lustau Ortega, esposo de María, trasladó la bodega al antiguo barrio de Santiago, en el casco antiguo de Jerez de la Frontera. Allí, en unos edificios que formaban parte de las históricas murallas árabes de la ciudad, fue ampliando su negocio lentamente, aún como almacenista.
En 1945 Emilio Lustau pasó de ser almacenista a comercializar sus vinos y brandies bajo sus propias marcas. Nacieron así marcas como Papirusa, Jarana, Escuadrilla, Emperatriz Eugenia o Cinta de Oro.
A partir de los años 80, y bajo la dirección de Rafael Balao, Lustau se convirtió en una de las compañías más innovadoras de Jerez. En esta década nació la gama Solera Familiar, se creó la hoy mítica gama Almacenista y comenzaron las elaboraciones de Añadas.

Innovación.

En el año 1988, Lustau dio otro paso adelante en la innovación introduciendo una nueva botella para sus vinos. Una botella elegante y exclusiva de la marca que distinguía a Lustau del resto de bodegas de Jerez. En 1990 el destino de Bodegas Lustau cambió al pasar a manos de la conocida compañía Luis Caballero, productora de bebidas espirituosas; bajo la dirección de Luis Caballero Florido. Este hecho supuso un considerable respaldo financiero y la posibilidad de desarrollo y expansión para Lustau.
En el año 2000 Lustau adquirió seis históricos cascos bodegueros del siglo XIX en el centro de Jerez. Estos edificios fueron restaurados en base a los planos y técnicas originales, respetando al máximo su identidad y autenticidad. Hoy albergan las principales instalaciones bodegueras de Lustau.
En la actualidad, Bodegas Lustau es considerada hoy una referencia a nivel mundial al hablar de vinos de máxima calidad.

El triángulo de Jerez.

Bodegas Emilio Lustau es la única bodega que elabora vinos en las tres ciudades que forman el Marco de Jerez, el triángulo formado por Sanlúcar de Barrameda, El Puerto de Santa María, y la propia Jerez de la Frontera, y tiene en el mercado, actualmente, unas 40 referencias tanto de vinos generosos de Emilio Lustau como de vinagres y brandy Emilio Lustau. Los vinos de Bodegas Emilio Lustau han triunfado en diversos concursos españoles, tales como Enoforum, los premios Bacchus, el Concurso Internacional de Vinos de Andalucía y muchos más. Lustau ha sido la primera bodega del mundo en recibir en dos ocasiones el prestigioso trofeo Len Evans a su calidad y consistencia en 2011 y 2016 del prestigioso certamen International Wine Challenge. Año tras año, los vinos de Lustau reciben además numerosos premios y reconocimientos, que sitúan a la bodega entre las más premiadas del mundo. La filosofía de Lustau sigue siendo la misma desde su origen en 1896: ofrecer al consumidor la más amplia y selecta colección de especialidades de Jerez.
