La tradición familiar.

Del sueño de un pequeño agricultor, nacía en 1922, en el corazón de la campiña cordobesa, Bodegas Toro Albalá. José María Toro Albalá inició la andadura de su firma con una apuesta clara: la elaboración de vinos generosos y de licores de alta calidad con la uva Pedro Ximénez como protagonista. El fino Eléctrico, conocido así popularmente al asentarse la bodega en los terrenos que albergaron una antigua central eléctrica, fue una de sus principales creaciones en los años 20. Cuatro décadas después, en los 60, la firma inauguraría una nueva etapa de la mano de Antonio Sánchez, enólogo y sobrino del fundador, que se prolonga hasta la actualidad. Con una visión más internacional pero sin abandonar la tradición familiar, Bodegas Toro Albalá exhibe su maestría con auténticas joyas enológicas como son sus amontillados o sus insuperables Don PX. Precisamente su Don PX Convento Selección 1946 marcó un antes y después para esta firma cordobesa al ser el primer vino dulce en alcanzar los míticos 100 puntos Parker. Los viñedos que posee la bodega, adscritos a la D.O.P. Montilla-Moriles, se reparten entre las tierras albarizas de Finca La Noria, en el término de Aguilar de la Frontera, y de la mejor zona de Los Moriles Altos, y los suelos arenosos de Montalbán, donde se lleva a cabo la pasificación.

Han tenido que pasar más de 100 años.

Toro Albalá es considerada una de las 100 Bodegas de Oro españolas para el siglo XXI. Está situada en el término municipal de Aguilar de la Frontera, a 50 kilómetros de Córdoba, y fue fundada en 1844 por Antonio Sánchez Prieto en un molino denominado La Noria, cerca del castillo de dicha localidad. La producción de Toro Albalá depende en un 30% del viñedo propio y un 80% de los que se compran en exclusividad. Hay una capacidad de elaboración de 1.000.000 de litros y se cuenta con un parque de 6.000 botas. La producción media es de 300.000 botellas. La exportación ocupa el 35%. A pesar de la antigüedad de estas Toro Albalá, el despegue en el resto de España ha tardado en producirse. Han tenido que pasar más de 100 años hasta que Antonio Sánchez Romero, sin olvidar las normas legadas por sus antepasados y adoptando técnicas novedosas ha situado sus vinos en un segmento medio-alto y ha obtenido el reconocimiento de su genuino hacer. Sigue firmemente empeñado en tratar sus vinos como si fuesen joyas únicas, artesanas, donde el tiempo tiene la última palabra, y con la originalidad que él aporta, la diferenciación. Al frente de Bodegas Toro Albalá se encuentra una persona singular, Antonio Sánchez, gran enólogo que ha elaborado vinos para todas las grandes firmas de Montilla-Moriles. Un hombre de curiosidad y saber enciclopédico. Entre sus vinos, Antonio Sánchez está especialmente orgulloso de sus pedro ximénez, que rozan la perfección, desde el hermano pequeño Don PX hasta el gran Bacchus 1939.
