Las bodegas Leonardo da Vinci se fundaron en 1961 cuando treinta pequeños enólogos decidieron unirse, tanto para compartir su pasión por la producción de vino, como para participar en los gastos para construir un lugar único donde puedan transformar las uvas en blanco y rojo del territorio. Cuando se fundó la empresa en Vinci, en el corazón de la Toscana, en la región vinícola de Chianti, las hectáreas de viñedo de referencia eran de tan solo 70 ha. En más de cincuenta años de actividad, la cooperativa ha crecido mucho. Hoy tienen alrededor de 750 hectáreas y extienden sus fronteras también en el área de Siena. De hecho, la compañía se ha expandido y, desde Vinci, el lugar de nacimiento del genio Leonardo, donde las oficinas centrales de la compañía aún están presentes, llegó a Montalcino.
