La bodega Produttori del Barbaresco fue fundada en 1894 por Domizio Cavazza, considerado como el padre del Barbaresco y responsable de haber introducido nuevas e innovadoras técnicas de conducción del viñedo y también de vinificación. Además, Domizio Cavazza fue el director de la Regia Scuola Enologica di Alba, una de las primeras escuelas enológicas en Italia. Después de un período muy duro, debido a la cruenta guerra, la cooperativa recuperó su dinamismo en 1958, siendo un ejemplo de modernidad su modelo cooperativo, llegando a contar con más de 50 socios viticultores, todos ellos cultivando sus viñedos propios y teniendo unos terrenos de unas 100 hectáreas en la DOGC Barbaresco, es decir, aproximadamente un 1/6 de la producción total de la denominación y, una envidiable reputación en todo el mundo, tanto por su Barbaresco genérico como por cualquiera de sus excelentes vinos de pago.
