La viticultura en Puglia es historia y al mismo tiempo innovación. El cultivo de la vid comenzó hace miles de años, en la época de "Magna Grecia", de lo que dan fe los orígenes griegos de muchos nombres de variedades de uva de Puglia. La tradición continúa a través de la presencia de variedades nativas como Negroamaro, Aglianico y Primitivo, ambas expresiones verdaderas de un territorio vital fuerte y extraordinario. La producción de vinos de alta calidad está relacionada con los pasos recientes hacia la innovación y la creatividad: se han obtenido cambios sustanciales mediante el uso de técnicas modernas de viticultura y la introducción de variedades de uva no nativas, es decir, Chardonnay y Cabernet, que se expresan en este "terruño" de una manera completamente única. Tormaresca es la expresión de las dos almas anteriores. Carácter, personalidad y alta calidad son las características que Puglia transmite a las variedades de uva nativas. Por esta razón, la familia Antinori dio a luz a Tormaresca en 1998 cuando comenzaron a invertir en Puglia. La familia Antinori, que lleva haciendo vino desde hace más de 600 años, ha creado Tormaresca en 1998, cuando comenzaron a invertir en terrenos en Puglia. La finca abarca 500 hectáreas de las cuales 250 están plantadas con viñedo y 85 están destinados a olivares.
